FAQ
GENERAL Q's
What's that machine you're using?
I'm using a vintage chainstitch embroidery machine. It creates a decorative embroidery stitch that looks like a chain, hence the name "chain stitch". I control the direction of the stitches by using a hand crank located under the table, the same machine used at Disneyland to embroider names on the mouse ear hats.
How long does one embroidery take?
How long at item takes depends on many factories including the artwork size and complexity, type of item being embroidered (some items & placements are harder than others, quantity and deadline.
One word or simple flash design takes about 2-5 minutes to embroider. Larger pieces can take several days.
Can I send you something to embroider?
Absolutely! I love bringing someone's vision to life! Please email me at hello.akiandco@gmail.com to discuss more. Please include a photo of the item as well as any reference images or inspiration you might have.
What can/can't you embroider on?
I am limited to what I can fit under the needle of my machine, which is about 1/4" so the item needs to be able to get a flat as possible.
Items I can embroider on are: cotton bandanas, unstructured hats and tote bags, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets. Woven fabrics, cotton, linen, and denim are great!
I cannot stitch on items that are puffed or stuffed, or curved and structured. Tubular items are also very difficult to embroider one.
Items that cannot be stitched on are: structured hats and totes, puffed or quilted jackets, socks, long sleeves, and pants. Fabrics with stretch and athletic material are very difficult.
